I am a qualified Gestalt Psychotherapist, and hold the MA in Gestalt Psychotherapy from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, (accredited by Birmingham University). I am also a Registered Psychotherapist with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, the main accrediting body for psychotherapists in the UK.
I have completed a specialist training in somatic trauma therapy with Babette Rothschild, author of The Body Remembers. This is an approach to trauma therapy that starts with the impact of traumatic events on bodily sensation, and works to support the body in accepting that the danger has passed. It isn’t necessary to relive traumatic memories in order to recover from trauma.
Somatic trauma therapy is suitable for people wanting relief from the symptoms of post-traumatic stress or post-traumatic stress disorder. It is also suitable for people who want to resolve trauma memories.
I have had training in working with alcohol related issues from a humanistic therapy perspective at The Swan Project, where I used to volunteer as a therapist, and now serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees.
I have experience working with a wide range of issues and am happy to work with whatever issues you want to explore. My particular therapeutic interests at this time are ongoing therapy; depression; and trauma.
